Personally, I think Wilson is sincere. I don't see him as being a "bad" friend in this, but as someone who is attempting to fulfil House's needs rather than his wants (which is totally in keeping with canon Wilson), and struggling to do the right thing in the face of a rapidly deteriorating situation. His conflicted emotions--anger, fear, guilt and affection--are clearly conveyed, and I look forward to seeing what will happen next.
By the way, your writing always makes me stop and think "Wow. That was so skilfully written..." There are plenty of places that could be very boring, but that instead read like a fast-paced thriller. Great stuff.
